1. Using File Manager in Hosting Control Panel
Popular Hosting control panels for Windows (WebsitePanel & Parallels Plesk) and Linux (cPanel) come with File Manager feature within which also have a Compress/Zip tool to create a .zip file of your public folder and download it to your local computer.
Below steps will explain on how to take backup of website files using WebsitePanel Hosting Control Panel.
i. Login to your WebsitePanel Hosting Control Panel
ii. Click on the File Manager icon in the center of page among the large icons.
iii. Navigate to the folder YOURDOMAIN.COM >> wwwroot
iv. Select all files and folders under wwwroot folder and click on the “Zip” option in the toolbar of File Manager. Enter the name you want to give to the zip file (ex. backup.zip) and click on Ok button. This will generate a .zip file under wwwroot folder which will start showing up in the list of files and folders once process is complete.
v. Click on the name of the .zip file which will start download of the file to your local computer.
You can use your FTP Account via a FTP client software like Filezilla from your Local Computer to connect to server and download your files.
To do so, please follow below steps:
i. Open you FTP Client Software and login to your FTP Account using Hostname, FTP Username and FTP Password.
ii. Once logged in, navigate to folder YOURDOMAIN.COM >> wwwroot.
iii. Select all Files and Folders under wwwroot folder and click on the Download option (usually accessed on right click). This will start downloading Files and Folders of your website to your local computer.
