Site Preview is a very useful feature which allows you view your website uploaded on the server using a temporary link created by your hosting account instead of your actual domain name. This is handy especially when you are migrating your website from one hosting account to another hosting account and you need to confirm that the uploaded site is running correctly on new hosting account before changing the Nameserver of Domain Name. Checking the site before hand will allow you make any necessary changes or adjustments to ensure your website keeps running smoothly after updating Nameservers.
Below we have given steps on how you can see the Site Preview using your Parallels Plesk Hosting Control Panel.
1. Login to you Plesk Hosting Control Panel.
2. On the Homepage, you will find a “Preview” link just below the name of your Domain written in large fonts. Click on it to preview your website.
You can make necessary changes if site is not working properly and contact Hosting Support Team in case required.
Please note that some applications like WordPress, Magento etc. won’t work with Preview url because they tend to store the domain name url in its settings file and database and since the preview url is different than the domain name, it won’t work. To make it work on Site Preview url, you will need to modify the setting & url from applications database or files.
Once you are assured that everything is in order, you can proceed with updating Nameservers of your Domain Name.
